Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis are collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Both conditions affect the bowel, but in different ways. People with IBD will experience times when the disease is active (flare) and times when it is not active (remission). Common symptoms of IBD include:

  • Abdominal pain

  • Unintentional weight loss

  • Persistent diarrhoea (sometimes with blood and mucus)

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Fatigue
